  1. Prepare 1 cup of oats.
  2. You need 1 tsp. of ghee.
  3. It's 2 tbsp. of oil.
  4. It's 1 of dry red chilli.
  5. You need 1/2 tsp. of mustard seeds.
  6. It's 1/2 tsp. of cumin seeds.
  7. Prepare 1 tsp. of urad dal.
  8. Prepare 1 tbsp. of chana dal.
  9. Prepare 1/4 tsp. of asafoetida.
  10. Prepare 1 of onion, chopped.
  11. Prepare 1 tsp. of ginger, grated.
  12. You need 1-2 of green chilies, chopped.
  13. Prepare 1 sprig of curry leaves.
  14. It's to taste of salt.
  15. Prepare 1/4 tsp. of turmeric powder.
  16. It's 1 tbsp. of sambar powder.
  17. It's 1/4 cup of boiled & shredded chicken.
  18. Prepare 1/4 cup of mixed sprouts, steamed.
  19. You need 1 tbsp. of coriander leaves, chopped.

Oats Upma step by step

  1. Heat the ghee in a pan and roast the oats for a minute till you get a nice aroma. Keep aside..
  2. Heat oil and temper with mustard seeds, cumin seeds and red chilli. After it stops spluttering, add urad dal, asafoetida and chana dal. Saute till the dal changes colour..
  3. Add the onion, ginger, curry leaves and green chilies. Saute till light brown. Now add all the dry spices and give it a toss..
  4. Add the sprouts and chicken. Mix well and saute for a minute. Add the oats and 1 cup water. Cook, on a low flame till it thickens..
  5. Switch off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves. Serve with coconut chutney for a nice healthy breakfast..
